Growing up in Switzerland I was always obsessed with sport and competed at a national level in athletics and cross country. This transitioned well into triathlon and I started competing in Europe from an early age. Much of my training and competing was done while working a senior executive role in Zurich, so I understand the challenges of work and finding time to train and train right! I competed in all distances, including 15 Ironman races in Europe, Australia and Asia. My transition to coaching occurred after my move to Australia where I had the opportunity to train athletes of all levels and stages of development. I enjoy working with passionate athletes and the reward is seeing their development and progression.
Description of Nic Pillonel
What have you achieved in your coaching career?
10+ years working with age group and elite athletes from many sports including triathlon.
Why do you work with Trisutto?
My philosophy fits very neatly with the Trisutto.com methodologies. Simplicity and quality in training is the key, but there must always be an understanding of the needs and circumstances of each athlete. I believe this is why I’ve been able to specialise in coaching senior executives and busy entrepreneurs as I understand the realities of their work and home life and we work together to get the best out of the time they do have available. This method applies to all athletes however, as we are all busy! I also have a mantra which I use often as I see so many athletes training the same way year after year and not improving – “If you want something you’ve never had, you may have to do things you have never done.”
