How did you get started on triathlon?
I did not take up the sport until after I had 3 children. At the same time I left teaching, retrained as a PT instructor then a level 1,2 and 3 Triathlon coach, and whilst competing I also set up a club and my own triathlon business. I could not swim front crawl and had my first few sprints completing it as breast stroke. I loved it, and have got fitter and stronger over the years and compete and podium in my Age group in 70.3 and European Championships from sprint duathlon to long distance triathlon, everything from Bronze to gold! I believe if I could do it, so could any one which is why I left teaching 17 years ago to pursue triathlon coaching, and run my own business and club, coaching athletes from 7 - 70 from Novice to World Champion AG Gold medalists . It is such a rewarding sport.
What do you love about triathlon?
There are always challenges, always new goals, speaking as an athlete and as a coach. Its so rewarding to see athletes develop their skills, grow in confidence and achieve and go beyond their goals. This is true for myself as well on my triathlon journey.
What is your strongest discipline?
What is your biggest achievement in triathlon?
Winning 3 70.3 AG races in a row, finishing with a 1st in AG in European Championships. 70.3 Also AG Gold medal in European Long distance Championships in Vichy
What are your goals for next season?
Returning after ligament reconstruction in left ankle, so getting fit, building endurance back up, and racing at top AG level again. So far managed 2 2nd places and one 3rd at 70.3 Aix en Provence, Staffordshire and Exmoor. Also have not raced long in a good few years so getting the endurance to do this after surgery is a big goal!
